Bavarian Motor Works, in German: Bayerische Motoren Werke, BMW is an independent German manufacturer of automobiles and motorcycles operating on a world wide auto market. BMW is also the parent company of the MINI and Rolls-Royce car brands. The modern BMW model line is presented by what they call "Series 2", identified by a single digit - e.g. the 3 Series. In 2004 BMW announced plans to make odd-numbered series saloon/sedan and estate/wagon models (Traditionally BMW names its estates/wagons Touring models), while even-numbered series become two-door coupes and cabriolets.
